As a young child, I knew I wanted to be a teacher. I used to force my little brother to play school with me. He hated it.
A few decades later, I now have a variety of experience in education, having worked with all ages across many different environments. I enjoyed teaching middle and high school math for eleven years and worked with students from a wide range of backgrounds, abilities and learning needs. I spent over fifteen years coaching pre-school and grade school recreational gymnastics, and five years coaching kids and adults aerial dance. Additionally, I have created and led STEM activities with local summer camps as well as worked with adult learners in a college tutoring program.
What I enjoy most about teaching and tutoring is seeing kids grow and build confidence as new information starts to “click.” The growth that students can make over a week, month or school year is incredible, and I love to be a part of that journey! Additionally, I enjoy getting to know students. I love hearing their perspective on the world, and they never fail to teach me something new!
I hold a master’s degree in education, as well as bachelor’s degrees in both mathematics and mathematics education. I am a certified secondary math teacher in my former home state of Maryland.
My Mission
To provide individualized support and coaching to help students build confidence and find success in math.
I believe that all students are capable of achieving success in math. Unfortunately, for many students, math is their least favorite and/or hardest subject. It shouldn’t be that way!
I am here to help students improve their math skills, build their confidence in math and reduce frustration with math homework by identifying learning needs, developing study skills and work habits, and developing an individual plan for student support.
